Aims and benefits

The aim of this subproject is the health economic evaluation of the BetterCare approach from a societal perspective. The results of the subproject will provide decision makers in the health care system with an economic basis for decisions on the allocation of resources to finance an implementation of the investigated intervention in routine care.

It is expected that the BetterCare intervention will be cost-effective compared to standard care from an economic perspective. This is given if the necessary maximum willingness to pay for the gain of one year of life in full health (QALY) by the BetterCare intervention in addition to routine care is in a range between 0 and 100,000 €. The maximum willingness to pay is a hypothetical value that indicates the monetary value attributed to the outcome of health care services in an economy.
